Frequently Asked Questions

This is not our initial goal, but we are happy to support you with this when the time is right. Many of the clients we work with have spent years trying one diet after the other and feeling like a failure. We want to empower you to understand what your body needs so that you don’t feel you have to restrict or deny yourself foods that you love. Once this has been successfully implemented, we can help you look at weight loss, if this is still something you would like.

We believe every single person is able to get better and we are very happy to support you with these goals. Saying that, we would need you to be seen and weighed regularly by your local GP and we would ask to have a timeframe, such as 4-6 weeks to agree if the process is working or not. We would also stress that weekly appointments are necessary to start with.

We treat all eating disorders, including anorexia, ARFID, bulimia and binge-eating disorder.

Unfortunately not. Our experience to date has been that zoom appointments are more popular than in person, so we have made the decision to keep everything online.

We ask that everyone give us 48hrs notice of cancellation or the full fee will be charged. We also ask that the first invoice is settled up front, before the initial consultation takes place. This is due to previous experiences of people not turning up to their appointments. If there is an emergency, we will do our best to accommodate it.

We are a specialist eating disorder service, providing dietetic support for anorexia nervosa, bulimia, ARFID and binge eating disorders, as well as nutritional expertise in sports-related energy deficiencies, such as REDS and HA. Nicky additionally specialises in PCOS.

As an adult with Autsim I have struggled with restricted eating all my life – I have tried many times myself to try to broaden my diet but I have never succeeded. Then I found Bluebird Clinic.

The support I have received from Nicky has been truly life changing. Our sessions give me the opportunity to discuss my goals and reflect on times when I’ve struggled as well as times when I’ve succeeded.

In between our sessions I can interact with Nicky through the app – it’s fantastic to get this regular input from her, she can offer support and guidance on a nearly daily basis, and can celebrate alongside me when I achieve something.

Everything we do is done at my pace. Nicky really listens to my aims as well as my fears and helps me to develop a plan that both helps me progress towards my overall goal whilst not overwhelming me.

In the few months I’ve worked with Nicky so far I’ve seen my diet improve so much – I am eating things I never thought I would. My attitude to trying things has also improved so much, I’m beginning to feel more confident in saying yes to trying something new.

I am so glad I found The BlueBird Centre and will be forever grateful for what they have helped me to achieve so far, and I’m so excited to see what more I can achieve as I continue my work with Nicky.
